History

The ACVIM is a long-established certifying body for veterinary specialists. Since its inception in 1973, the ACVIM has continued to be a trusted leader in veterinary education, discovery, and excellence, starting out with just over 40 Diplomates and now boasting a membership of over 3,800 in North America and beyond.

The Forum has grown into the profession's flagship specialty meeting over more than four decades. MOVES celebrated 40 years of the ACVIM Forum as a sponsor of the 2023 conference. A longtime attendee noted the Forum has gone from three sessions running at the same time to about 15 concurrent sessions, growing significantly over the years. Recent host cities include Minneapolis (2024) and Louisville, Kentucky (2025), with Seattle hosting in 2026.

Getting There

The convention center is in downtown Seattle, roughly a 15-mile trip from the airport. The Summit Seattle Convention Center is approximately 15 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac). Several transportation options are available for travelling between the convention center and the airport, and attendees can also check with their hotel about any shuttle service it may provide.

Air travel discounts are offered to attendees: In-person attendees are eligible for a discount code when booking flights to Seattle on United or Delta Airlines, with more information provided in the registration confirmation email; Delta and United are the only participating airlines. Seattle's walkable downtown, light rail, and rideshare services also connect the venue with the airport and surrounding neighborhoods.
