ASSP's annual conference has set attendance records in recent years. For the first time in its 63-year history, Safety 2024 has sold out. Moreover, it's seeing record attendance. Running Aug. 7-9 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Safety 2024's sold-out attendance has surpassed a whopping 6,000 attendees, and the show floor now boasts more than 650 exhibitors. A subsequent edition reached a record of approximately 6,500 professionals.

Audience demographics from ASSP's exhibitor materials show a senior, decision-making audience: 33% Manager/Regional or Branch Manager/Safety Manager, 22% Director / Vice President / Department Head, 12% Safety Specialist / Technician, 9% Consultant / Advisor, 5% Safety Engineer, 4% President / Owner / CEO / Partner and 15% Other. By industry, the manufacturing industry and construction industry comprise the two largest classifications — 24% Manufacturing, 17% Construction, 9% Consulting, 7% Government/Public Sector, 6% Insurance/Risk Management, 6% Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, 5% Utilities and 3% Educational Services/Universities. Notably, 99% of attendees visit the Exhibit Hall, and 76% report discovering solutions to workplace challenges during their visit.

Registration is handled online through ASSP's event store, with several pass types to match how you want to attend. Recent editions have offered three main options:

1. In-Person pass — full three-day access to conference sessions and the Expo, plus lunch and refreshments, on-demand online access for 60 days afterward, and CEUs. Priced starting around $759 in recent editions.
2. Online-Only pass — livestreamed and on-demand content with 60 days of access, priced starting around $459.
3. Expo-Only pass — three days of exhibit floor access, around $249.

Added incentives include first-timer perks: First-time attendees who register for the full conference and have never been an ASSP member also receive a FREE year of membership – up to a $210 value. Financial help is also available — Career Development Grants of $500 are available for individuals in the EHS field who need financial support for conference attendance, accepted year-round with awards made on a rolling basis. Optional pre-conference courses can be added for deeper, certificate-track learning.

The event traces its roots back more than six decades and is affectionately known within the profession as the "PDC" (Professional Development Conference). For more than 60 years, the ASSP Professional Development Conference (PDC) has been and will continue to be the direct reflection of what is taking place in the occupational, safety and health industry.

The conference added an exposition component decades ago, and the show floor has grown steadily since. That year was also the first time the conference included an exposition, and the number of participating companies has grown to more than 500 in recent years. The event is now branded as the Safety Conference and Expo and presents an unparalleled opportunity for education, networking and community.

Recent milestones include Safety 2024 in Denver, which sold out for the first time in its 63-year history and set an attendance record. The 2026 edition (its 65th) was held in Anaheim, California, and the event has earned national recognition, including a Trade Show Executive "Fastest 50" honor for growth in net square feet of exhibit space. ASSP selects a new host city each year, with Safety 2027 heading to New Orleans.
