ASSP's annual conference has set attendance records in recent years. For the first time in its 63-year history, Safety 2024 has sold out. Moreover, it's seeing record attendance. Running Aug. 7-9 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Safety 2024's sold-out attendance has surpassed a whopping 6,000 attendees, and the show floor now boasts more than 650 exhibitors. A subsequent edition reached a record of approximately 6,500 professionals.
Audience demographics from ASSP's exhibitor materials show a senior, decision-making audience: 33% Manager/Regional or Branch Manager/Safety Manager, 22% Director / Vice President / Department Head, 12% Safety Specialist / Technician, 9% Consultant / Advisor, 5% Safety Engineer, 4% President / Owner / CEO / Partner and 15% Other. By industry, the manufacturing industry and construction industry comprise the two largest classifications — 24% Manufacturing, 17% Construction, 9% Consulting, 7% Government/Public Sector, 6% Insurance/Risk Management, 6% Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, 5% Utilities and 3% Educational Services/Universities. Notably, 99% of attendees visit the Exhibit Hall, and 76% report discovering solutions to workplace challenges during their visit.

Added incentives include first-timer perks: First-time attendees who register for the full conference and have never been an ASSP member also receive a FREE year of membership – up to a $210 value. Financial help is also available — Career Development Grants of $500 are available for individuals in the EHS field who need financial support for conference attendance, accepted year-round with awards made on a rolling basis. Optional pre-conference courses can be added for deeper, certificate-track learning.
The event traces its roots back more than six decades and is affectionately known within the profession as the "PDC" (Professional Development Conference). For more than 60 years, the ASSP Professional Development Conference (PDC) has been and will continue to be the direct reflection of what is taking place in the occupational, safety and health industry.
The conference added an exposition component decades ago, and the show floor has grown steadily since. That year was also the first time the conference included an exposition, and the number of participating companies has grown to more than 500 in recent years. The event is now branded as the Safety Conference and Expo and presents an unparalleled opportunity for education, networking and community.
Recent milestones include Safety 2024 in Denver, which sold out for the first time in its 63-year history and set an attendance record. The 2026 edition (its 65th) was held in Anaheim, California, and the event has earned national recognition, including a Trade Show Executive "Fastest 50" honor for growth in net square feet of exhibit space. ASSP selects a new host city each year, with Safety 2027 heading to New Orleans.

The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center sits on the banks of the Mississippi River near the French Quarter and Arts District. In addition to the 1.1 million sq. ft. of exhibition space and 140 meeting rooms, The Great Hall offers a 60,300 sq. ft. divisible, column-free ballroom. Its 1.1 million square feet of exhibit space can be divided into 12 halls.
It is one of the nation's largest and busiest facilities — with its 1.1 million square feet of space in one hall, it has the largest single exhibit space in the U.S., and has become one of the Top 10 hosts for conventions and trade shows in the country since it opened in 1985. Additional spaces include the 4,032-seat New Orleans Theater, the 36,000-sq-ft La Nouvelle Orleans Ballroom, and the Great Hall's rooftop terrace. High-density Wi-Fi is capable of serving 20,000 users simultaneously. The center is currently undergoing a multi-year, roughly $557 million modernization of roofing, technology, lobbies and a new linear park.
The convention center offers on-site paid parking, and additional lots and ramps are available nearby. There is plenty of parking available at the Center for a daily fee, although overnight parking is prohibited. Note that the area around the venue has numerous public parking ramps and surface lots, and while the venue has its own parking facilities, they do not offer in/out privileges.
The nearest airport is Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). The Louis Armstrong International Airport is 13 miles from the MCC. Taxis, rideshare and airport shuttle service connect the airport to downtown hotels.
Public transit stops directly at the venue: the W-2, W-3, and W-8 buses stop directly in front of the convention center, as does the Riverfront Streetcar Line (Route 2). The center's walkable riverfront location also makes it easy to reach the French Quarter and Warehouse District on foot.

Safety 2027 takes place June 7–9, 2027, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, located at 900 Convention Center Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70130.
The event is designed for occupational safety and health (OSH/EHS) professionals from around the world, from frontline safety specialists to managers, directors and executives. The largest industry groups represented are manufacturing and construction, along with consulting, government, insurance, oil and gas, utilities and education.
Registration is completed online through ASSP's event store. Recent editions have offered an in-person full-conference pass (starting around $759), an online-only pass (around $459) and an expo-only pass (around $249); prices vary by edition, membership and timing. First-time full-conference attendees who have never been ASSP members can also receive a free year of membership.
The conference is one of the largest of its kind, with recent editions drawing over 6,000 attendees — Safety 2024 in Denver sold out and set a record above 6,000 — and more than 500 exhibiting companies (650+ in 2024). Surveys show 99% of attendees visit the Expo Hall.
It combines three days of education sessions, keynote and plenary speakers, and a large education-focused Expo where attendees can compare safety products and solutions in person.
