American Student Dental Association - ASDA Annual Session 2027

ASDA's Annual Session brings together hundreds of student leaders from U.S. dental schools. Historically, attendance has been substantial: at the 2010 Annual Session, more than 300 dental students, representing all of the U.S. dental schools, attended. ASDA's overall reach is broad — the association represents 92 percent of all students from 66 U.S. dental schools, and in 2018 it had over 24,000 members, including 22,000 dental students and almost 2,000 predental students.

Registration and pricing details for the 2027 Annual Session had not yet been published on ASDA's official page at the time of writing; the site lists the meeting as a "save the date." As the official House of Delegates meeting, Annual Session is attended primarily by elected chapter delegates and national leaders alongside other ASDA members. Following a dental student convention held Feb. 8-9, 1971, the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) was formed as a new national student dental organization. Its roots trace to student organizing in 1970: students held a meeting in Chicago on Feb. 14-15, 1970, just prior to the midwinter meeting of the Chicago Dental Society, with records indicating that 45 students from 26 dental schools participated. Those early leaders first formed the Student American Dental Association (SADA) before ASDA was established with the ADA's support.

Today, Annual Session is the official meeting of ASDA's House of Delegates, where attendees from every U.S. dental school gather to vote on association policy, elect officers and determine the association's priorities for the coming year. Recent Annual Sessions have been held in cities including Denver, Kansas City and, in 2026, Minneapolis, MN, with the 2027 meeting set for Charlotte, NC.
