CMAA's story began at the Hotel Sherman in Chicago, January 24-27, 1927, when 100 club managers gathered to define a profession and establish a national association; the attendees solidified the organization's purpose and direction, drafted bylaws, elected officers, and set annual dues at $5. The association has since grown into the leading professional body for club managers. Today CMAA is the largest professional association representing club management professionals who operate country, golf, athletic, city, faculty, military, town, yacht and other membership-based clubs, with more than 8,700 members.
