EXPO CHICAGO - International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art 2027

EXPO CHICAGO reports attendance of approximately 40,000. Recent editions have hosted more than 170 of the world's prominent contemporary galleries from 36 countries. The audience includes collectors, curators, artists, museum professionals, and members of the public.

Tickets are sold online through the official EXPO CHICAGO website (expochicago.com) and, when available, at the door. Pass types have historically included single-day admission, three-day admission, guided-tour admission, VIP passes, and the Vernissage opening-night benefit.

Published rates from a prior edition listed Single Day Admission at $30, Single Day Admission plus Guided Tour at $50, Single Day Discount Admission at $25, and Three Day Admission at $45, with discounted group admission available for groups of 10 or more. Vernissage supporters receive first access on opening day before the fair opens to the public, and tickets include access for the entirety of the fair during general admission hours. The fair was founded in 1980 as an American version of the Art Basel contemporary art exposition; established by Michigan print dealer John Wilson, the Chicago International Art Exposition premiered at Navy Pier, attracting 80 dealers and 10,000 visitors, and was the first such modern fair in North America. In 1993, Thomas Blackman took over as organizer of Art Chicago, which during the 1990s was called the nation's leading fair of 20th-century art, second only to Art Basel in Switzerland in global importance.

The fair was later relaunched under the EXPO CHICAGO name and has grown into a leading international exposition. In July 2023, it was announced that EXPO CHICAGO had been acquired by Frieze Art Fair. The show has held recent editions in April at Navy Pier.
