Project Management Institute - PMI Global Congress 2026

Historical figures come from recent Summits rather than the 2026 edition. PMI Global Summit 2022 was its largest annual gathering to that point, bringing together more than 6,500 project professionals — 3,500 in person and more than 3,000 virtually. During that event, more than 140 subject matter experts and speakers held educational sessions on topics ranging from strategic alignment to agility and transformation. More broadly, PMI reports direct access to more than 120,000 highly-engaged project professionals across its global events.

Registration is handled through PMI. The event runs October 21-24, 2026 in Detroit, MI, with online registration available.

Based on figures published by a PMI chapter, pricing for the 2026 Summit included: Early Bird PMI Member pricing of $1,775; a rate of $2,400 until July 20th; group pricing of a 10% discount for 10-19 attendees and a 20% discount for 20+ attendees, via a group interest form. Savings are available with group registration for 10 or more team members, though PMI chapters are not eligible for group discount rates. PMI's Summit traces its roots to the organization's founding. PMI was founded by five individuals — James R. Snyder, Eric Jenett, Gordon Davis, E.A. "Ned" Engman, and Susan Gallagher — in 1969. That same year, the founders convened a meeting of 80 attendees from the United States and Canada for a seminar on "Advanced Project Management Concepts," hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

In the 1970s PMI held its first seminars and symposia, which later evolved into PMI's annual Global Congresses. The event was long known as the PMI Global Congress and later the PMI Global Conference before being rebranded as the PMI Global Summit. More than 50 years later, PMI Global Summit continues to be the premier event for bringing together the project management community, with PMI serving more than 1.5 million active certification holders, including almost 690,000 PMI members in 217 countries and territories.
