Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association - SC&RA Specialized Transportation Symposium 2027

Figures published for the 2026 edition provide a sense of scale. Promotional materials cited 3 days, 20+ speakers, 12 networking events, 10 sessions, 59 exhibitors and 600+ attendees. The audience is composed of specialized transportation carriers, pilot/escort car operators, permit agents, manufacturers, software and training providers, insurers, media, and state DOT permitting officials.

Exhibitor pricing published for the 2026 edition was as follows (rates for the 2027 edition had not yet been released at the time of research):

Registration for the 2027 Symposium opens in November 2026. Attendees register through SC&RA's website (scranet.org), where hotel-room instructions are provided after registration is completed.

Member rates were $570/$640/$690, Spouse/Guest $340/$380/$430, Non-Member $885/$975/$1030, Non-Member Spouse/Guest $520/$575/$630, and Government $235/$245/$300 across the Early Bird, Regular and On-site tiers.

The Symposium is produced by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association, whose roots run deep in the heavy-haul and rigging industry. SC&RA was formed in 1947 as laws and regulations affecting the transport of specialized loads began to change, beginning as a segment of the Local Cartage National Conference (LCNC) of the American Trucking Associations (ATA). In December 1948, the Heavy Haulers, Machinery Movers and Erectors Section held its first official meeting on December 6 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., with 75 people in attendance.

The conference grew to 200 member companies by 1966 and 300 by 1968, bringing together crane and rigging companies as well as transportation companies, and in 1981 a new name was adopted: the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association. Today SC&RA is an international trade association of more than 1,400 members from 46 nations. The Specialized Transportation Symposium is its dedicated annual event for the transportation side of the membership, held each February and rotating among U.S. host cities.
