Created in 1933, the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) is the only state organization that represents municipal governments in Georgia; based in Atlanta, it is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its members. The Annual Convention is GMA's premier yearly event. In 2023 GMA celebrated its 90th anniversary at the Savannah Convention Center, underscoring the organization's long history of serving Georgia's cities. The convention has been held in Savannah for many years and continues to grow alongside GMA's expanding membership.

The Savannah Convention Center is located on Hutchinson Island, across the Savannah River from the city's historic downtown. The expansion of the Savannah Convention Center is complete, and GMA had use of the full facility for the Annual Convention. The recently expanded facility offers 660,000 square feet of total meeting space. A walkway between the Westin Hotel and the Savannah Convention Center is open for access between the two venues.
Parking is available at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, with a nominal fee charged per day for parking in the lot.
The nearest airport is Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV). The Savannah Convention Center is serviced by Savannah International Airport with daily non-stop services from many major U.S. cities, and Savannah is easily accessed via I-95 and I-16.
Because the convention center sits across the river from downtown, GMA provides shuttle and ferry service. Shuttle service begins each morning at 7:00 am and runs continuously throughout the day from GMA hotels to the Savannah Convention Center. A complimentary water taxi also runs between the riverfront hotels and the convention center. Attendees should allow 45 minutes to travel from Historic Savannah to the Savannah Convention Center via ground transportation or water ferry.
The only hotel within walking distance is adjacent to the convention center:
Across the river in the Historic District, additional options in the convention block include the Hyatt Regency, the Savannah Marriott Riverfront, and the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside. The historic district includes the Hyatt Regency, Savannah Marriott Riverfront, JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside, the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa and a wide variety of limited feature hotels to round out a convention block.
