Society of Critical Care Medicine - SCCM Critical Care Congress 2027

SCCM describes the Congress as the largest multiprofessional critical care event, bringing together thousands of multidisciplinary clinicians, researchers, and healthcare leaders. The audience spans the full critical care team, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and advanced practice providers. The event's exhibit hall has featured more than 130 exhibitors sharing the latest tools and technologies.

Registration is completed online through the official Congress registration portal. For the 2027 Congress, SCCM Select Member registration opened first, with general registration opening September 9. SCCM members receive discounted rates, and joining or upgrading membership provides priority access and savings.

The Congress is organized by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), which was established in 1970 when 29 physicians with a major interest in caring for critically ill patients met in Los Angeles, California, to form the organization. SCCM held its first annual meeting in 1970 in conjunction with the University of Southern California's Annual Shock Symposium. Dr. Max Harry Weil, often credited with founding the specialty of critical care medicine, served as the Society's first president.

Over more than 50 years, SCCM has grown into the largest non-profit medical organization dedicated to critical care, and its annual Critical Care Congress has become the largest multiprofessional, multidisciplinary critical care event. The Congress rotates among major U.S. cities; recent editions include Chicago, Illinois (2026) and Phoenix, Arizona (2024), with the 2027 edition in San Diego, California.
