Society of Automotive Engineers - SAE World Congress Experience - WCX 2027

The SAE WCX Congress held April 8–10, 2025 in Detroit featured a technical program of seventeen panel discussions, 495 published technical papers, and about 200 oral-only presentations covering all areas of automotive technology. There were about 4,800 registered participants, however, the actual attendance was lower as hundreds of international participants did not show up due to concerns about travel into the United States.

The audience is heavily weighted toward decision-makers: over 64% of attendees have the power to make or influence purchasing decisions for their organizations.

Registration is required to attend any portion of WCX, including technical sessions, special events and access to the expo floor, with customized registration options to meet your needs, whether it's attending the full conference or access to the expo floor. Member pricing is only available to current members of SAE International.

1. Choose a pass type (full conference or expo-floor access) and register online via the official WCX website.
2. Register early to secure the lowest rates. In 2024, registrations received after the early deadline were automatically charged the on-site price.
3. Review the cancellation policy before registering. In 2024, all cancellations had to be received prior to a set deadline, and a $50 processing fee was assessed for each canceled registration that resulted in a refund.
4. Note the age policy: no children under the age of 16 are permitted.

WCX evolved from SAE International's long-running SAE World Congress. The SAE World Congress was rebranded as WCX: SAE World Congress Experience, with the 2017 edition (WCX17) marking the modernized format. WCX is a full-sensory event experience immersing attendees in the forefront of the automotive and mobility industries across three days of new ideas on the exhibit floor, in intimate venues, and in networking events.

The Congress has traditionally been held in downtown Detroit. The 2025 Congress was held April 8–10, 2025 in Detroit, Michigan, and the 2026 edition was scheduled for the TCF Center from April 14 to April 16, 2026. For 2027, the event is scheduled for the Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi, Michigan.
